Labor Pains

I'm a Man. Ok, so that's out of the way lol! There is no way this blog post is about birthing a child. However, that doesn't mean that I don't understand what it means to be in labor...for a very, very, very long time.

Success is laborious work and commands a significant degree of focus. There are a number of parallels that can be drawn between being pregnant with a child and being pregnant with your dreams.

First of all, in order to get pregnant something has to happen. We all know what happens in most cases to get pregnant with a baby but that same thing often happens in real life to give way to the dream you have. In other words, maybe even at the risk of sounding a bit vulgar, you probably got F**ked.
That doesn't mean it happened by a person, although it may have; a boss, spouse, parents, best friends, naysayers etc. could be the blessing that started you on your journey to pursue your dreams by F**king you over. But it could also just be your life circumstances. All too often, life gives us that push through an uncomfortable phase that feels like we've gotten a bit of a "raw" deal.

If life was good and friends and family were already quite well off it would be hard to justify the incredible discomfort that comes with being pregnant with your dreams and actually trying to give birth to them.

The journey to success is arduous. Morning sickness happens on an entirely different level - there are nausea and repulsion with your own efforts and progress. Mental, financial, emotional, AND physical exhaustion will play huge parts in your process as well.
It will be a long road and very few people make it out of it without undergoing lifestyle changes. There are certain things you just don't do during pregnancy if you wish to have a healthy baby. You may abstain from drinking, recreational activities, staying out late, and you may start devoting more time to mapping out long-term goals. Having a child, just like birthing a dream, begins to make you consider how the future will play out and how you can prepare for it.

Lastly, the worst pain isn't the length of time you endure waiting for your dream to come about. It happens right before you see it for the first time; the sharp and excruciating pains that accompany giving birth are extreme. But they are your final gift in the lengthy process.

What you go through while giving birth is your victory lap although the agony can feel like defeat. Not only have you successfully brought your dream to term, but you also have the memory of the harsh moment that gives way to life even while right up against that special moment finally arriving.
<<<< >>>>

Why go through all of this? Why allow yourself to deal with these enormous trials? It's all but forgotten in a moment when you see what all that effort, time, and energy bring into the world. The labor pains may hurt but don't forget, never forget, it is all WORTH it!!!

Cheers,
